We’re still waiting for the long-awaited return of the Barracuda, which could happen in the 2019 model year, meaning a 2018 debut can be expected. After its global debut, advertisements are sure to follow and perhaps Dodge will take a page from its 1970 ad campaign by claiming those with a Barracuda are Dodge material.

Automotive advertisements has changed a lot over the years and the concepts used back when the 1970 Dodge Challenger went on sale may be looked as something that was made to be intentionally funny. In this specific ad, Dodge zeroed in on the fact that the Challenger was unusually attractive for its time.

The sheriff knew it was a road-legal race car, thus the string of questions revolving around the V8 engine, racing tires, racing stripes, racing shifter, etc. The commercial highlighted just how sporty it looked with the ending tagline; “if you can handle the way people react to your 1970 Dodge Challenger, you could be Dodge Material.” What the company is also trying to say by coining the term “Dodge Material”, is the confidence their vehicles inspire when you get behind the wheel of a Dodge.

What does everyone think? Will the new 2017 Dodge Barracuda bring back the “Dodge Material” tagline?

Given how long it has been since they had cuda the best thing to do is come up with a new slogan or way to promote it. Now we have models like the Challenger Hellcat and Charger Hellcat can have this dodge material tag line attached to it. Some things are better left off retiring.

Well, I've have owned few dodges although wouldn't say I'm dodge material, not yet, although my buddy from DSRLeasing - 10 years Dodge experience would definitely classify for one :)

I know the people who attend Chicago’s Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals are probably Dodge material. There's a four-door 1970 Barracuda concept car, Shaker Hood E-Body equipped Cudas and probably a few more that was not mentioned. Those classics will never get old IMO.
