Top 5 Debuts from the 2016 New York Auto Show

Quote:
The press days of the 2016 New York Auto Show are all wrapped up, and although it was a somewhat quiet show with no real blockbuster debuts, there were a handful of significant reveals here.

The New York event has a tough time because it is the first show after the Geneva Motor Show, where Bugattis and Lamborghinis come out to play. Geneva is a hard act to follow. But still, here are the Top 5 debuts from this year’s New York Auto Show.

I thought the Lincoln Navigator concept was very weird. The stairs and gull-wing doors are just so over the top. They serve no purpose. Luxury that serves no actual purpose is just ridiculous.

People like just having it there for "just in case". Yes most of them are unnecessary and will probably go unused but people with the money to afford it doesn't care.

Over the top but that's just what concepts do, a small part of what we see end up in production but sometimes car makers need to do this to draw attention to themselves.

That's pretty much it, they throw these things in there to make you think and build hype over the car. By the time it makes it to production and you see all the changes and lack of concept accessories, you kinda just brush it off and go for it anyways because you already had it pre-determined that you wanted it

That sometimes works but if the concept was so much better than the production, the subsequent let down could drive some people away. I'd be pretty angry if the concept was so much better and different than the production model. Let's hope the same won't apply to the Cuda.
